Are you waking up with the sniffels?

I am going to apologize in advance. The information I am about to share with you can be disturbing! But this is yet another example of information that I feel should be well distributed.

Each and every day the average person will shed between 1 to 1.5 grams of dead skin, or putrefied body ash. Lets put this into perspective; a dollar bill is roughly 1 gram. The accepted statistic is 1/3 of our life is spent in bed. You do the math. This will add up quickly!

Nearly 25% of all allergic reactions are contributed to dust mites, more specifically dust mite fecal matter. Or to be more specific a protein found in dust mite fecal matter

Dust mites are so small that 45 of them can ride on the back of a flea!

The squeamish may want to quickly hit the back button…ok here we go. A queen-sized mattress may hold up to two million dust mites! If the bug is so small imagine what the size of its droppings must be! We plop down into bed and up comes a cloud of this highly allergenic material, which may stay airborne for up to 72 hours!

You can put your pillows in a plastic bag and freeze them; this will help kill the bugs. Throwing them in the dryer will help to remove foreign material. But what about your mattress? The EPA recommends cleaning your carpet at least once a year! So should your bed receive any less attention? Of course not!

There are ways of helping you! Especially if you tend to wake in the morning with the sniffles!

How to choose a great carpet cleaning company in Las Vegas

With the sudden economic upheaval in Las Vegas, the valley has seen a huge increase in the amount of carpet cleaning companies. This may seem like a good thing to consumers. The truth is just the opposite.

A flashy van and a pretty web site will not clean your carpet, and unfortunately a three-day carpet cleaning course does not make a person a cleaning professional.

Nor is the lowest price the right option for the consumer who demands results not excuses.

New companies in Las Vegas are at a real disadvantage. They are most likely using inferior equipment, cleaning agents, and many may only have 6 months of experience in the industry.

Start up costs for carpet cleaning companies in Las Vegas, and through out the United States, are high. $10 thousand to $40 thousand for the carpet cleaning machine alone.  Add to this the costs of the vehicle that will be hauling it, hoses, and cleaning agents. The costs are daunting.

There is a “not-for-profit watch dog” in our industry that provides certification to new cleaning technicians. This is carpet cleaning 101. There is not enough information available in this class, in my opinion to, call your self a cleaning pro. Only through proper training, working as a helper, and finally years of actual hands on training can a cleaning tech truly considers himself a professional.

So how do you go about choosing a high quality, reputable carpet cleaning company in Las Vegas?

I suggest calling Desert Dry Carpet Care.

The owner of this business has spent 20 years in the flooring industry with nearly 18 years on the carpet cleaning side. The first 2 years he spent working as a helper. The entire operation is dedicated to the highest quality workmanship with an unwavering commitment to customer service, and an industry-leading guarantee.

Jay, the owner, has seen the changing landscape of the carpet cleaning industry over the years. Dogma, hype, and misinformation have given way to time tested and guaranteed results. Jay is currently focusing his ongoing training in eliminating odors through changing the molecular shape of the odor molecule. This is truly cutting edge chemistry.

So when the time comes for you to choose a company that you will let into your home or place of work do your homework. Call around and educate your self. Then call Desert Dry Carpet Care. They will happily offer realistic appraisals, real testimonials, and intelligent real world answers to all of your questions.

Carpet Cleaning Before the Holidays in Las Vegas.

Well looks like we made it through another year of southern Nevada summertime heat. Now we can sit back and enjoy the weather.

But wait, was that Halloween decorations I saw in the store! Jinkeys it getting to be holiday time again. The sights, the smells, the last minute cleaning.

Personally I like to clean my home top to bottom twice a year. Around my birthday in April and again in November.

I do this strategically to help minimize the amounts of outdoor allergens that get trapped in my carpet in the spring, and of course because I don’t want my Mom to see my carpets dirty!

But there is a second reason for the bi-annual cleaning. The US EPA recommends that a 2 person non smoking house hold in average climate clean their carpet every 6 to 12 months.

This reduces the amounts of bio-pollutants in your home. Things like dust, dog dander, dust mite waste, and other allergens. By removing these pollutants from your carpet you are actually improving your homes overall indoor air quality by improving your carpets ability to filter the air inside your home.

Regular cleaning will even extend the life of your carpet. But we will talk about that another day.

How often should I clean my carpets?

I see this question all of the time! And it is one that i truly dread. Frankly I do not want to be so presumptious as to tell you how often to clean your home, plus it really varies from house to house. Do you have pets? Are you living in a very dusty, like southern Nevada, or a real humid climate? Are there smokers in your home?

All of these factors contribute greatly to the amount of pollutiants in your home and subsequentially your carpet.

I have customers that I see 3 or 4 times a year. I also have customers I may only see every 18 to 24 months.

The E.P.A. recommends cleaning every 6 to 12 months. So I feel once a year is a reasonable time to wait to have your carpets professionally cleaned.

Don’t forget to vacum on a regular basis! This is the little secret that really makes your carpet last. In the southwest we have a lot of silicates in the dust that blows around our valleys. The dust acts like crushed glass mowing down the fibers in your carpet.

Vacuming alone is not enough! If it was then our carpets would never get dirty, but oils off of our feet, tar from the road, and a whole slew of other grimy things become adheared to the fibers in our carpet. Then the dust and dirt is stuck to the grimy stuff and can not be removed by vacuming.

Time to call a professional!

Client Reviews

When I first hired Jay to clean my carpets, I thought ‘well, it will be nice to have clean carpets for a week or so’. After he and his wife were finished, I was stunned at how wonderful of a job they did. My carpet was its original color again and the whole house smelled so exceptionally clean, even for a self-admitted OCD-like freak here. The really cool part is that the carpets remained at that level of cleanliness for over a month, with regular vacuuming of course.

So here I am right now, after having my carpet cleaned again, sitting on my desk, enjoying a freshly deep-cleaned house.

Thanks Jay
